Newnan senior, Zachary (Zach) Seals, came to CEC for more hands-on classes. He has taken construction three times, robotics twice and is now interning in construction for his second time. With this week’s graduation, Seals will move on to “the real world.”

Seals’ dream is to travel the world with his girlfriend, but he doesn’t have the time because of work. “I spend more time working then at my house.” If he could describe himself in one phrase it would be “hard-working.”

“If you’re not first, you’re last” from the movie Talladega Nights inspires him to work harder.  Teachers such as Scott Brown (Robotics and Engineering), “Perry” Edwards (Construction) and Sean Parker (Math) have all helped him be successful throughout high school.

“Mr. Perry taught me how to apply what I learn to the job and he’s one my biggest role models.” Another inspiration is Mr. Brown who though he is known to be strict, “Mr. Brown is always willing to help” he said.

Brown was also complimentary to his student. “ Zach is what I call competent, I can call Zach to do an ordinary task, and not worry about it being done incorrectly. In other words, I don’t have to hold his hand,” Brown said.

After graduation, he plans on Attending MTI for HVAC (Air  Conditioning). He wants to work in air conditioning because it’s a hands-on job and he gets to do something new every day.

In five to ten years he sees himself living in Florida working with air conditioning, which will be easier for him because of his experience in construction and robotics.

Currently, he lives with his parents; Ralph (a former US Coast Guard serviceman who now works at power plants), and Marie (who is a professional photographer).

Seals works at Yokogawa here in Newnan. He has two older sisters Misty (a nurse) and Jessica (works at BBP). He also has a younger brother, Jake, who is doing the German Apprenticeship Program here at CEC.

In his little amount of free time, he enjoys “detailing cars because it gives me something to do, and it’s fun.”

“CEC has changed my life,” Seals said. “I wouldn’t be the person I am today without the help of teachers such as Sean Parker, Edward Perry, and Scott Brown.”
